EUROCHAMPS27 SET TO LIGHT UP LONDON IN SUMMER 2027

January 28, 2026

London is set to host EuroChamps27 as the biggest and boldest EuroHockey Championship to date lands in England from 28 July to 8 August 2027.

The championships will feature 12 men’s and 12 women’s teams, bringing the very best of European hockey to the capital. The tournament will be anchored at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre, the home of England Hockey’s international events for more than a decade and is recognised as one of the world’s leading hockey venues, with a strong Olympic and major events legacy. Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre will host the Pool games and quarter finals, delivering elite hockey in an iconic venue which has staged some of the sport’s biggest moments.

The competition will then build towards a showpiece finale with the return of Big Stadium Hockey to the UK, as the Semi-Finals and Finals are played at The Twickenham Stoop, home of Harlequins F.C. Innovative pitch technology will transform the iconic rugby venue into a world-class hockey arena, creating a dramatic stadium setting for the culmination of the biggest EuroHockey Championships ever staged.

In another major milestone for the sport in England, the men’s, women’s and Hockey ID Championships will all culminate on the same stage, with every final played at The Twickenham Stoop – a powerful statement of equality and inclusion at the heart of hockey.

Affordability and accessibility sit at the heart of EuroChamps27, ensuring the event is open to families, communities and new fans as well as hockey’s core audience. Tickets will offer outstanding value, with a family of four able to attend finals day for £100, while day tickets provide access to up to six matches per day, giving fans the chance to experience the very best of European hockey in a single visit.

Fans will have the opportunity to see the England men’s or women’s team in action most days of the tournament, including on the semi-final and final days. With Wales men and women, and Scotland women already qualified, EuroChamps27 guarantees home-nation representation throughout the competition, creating a true national moment for the sport.

Former England and Great Britain captain, and current England Hockey President Alex DansonBennett, said “What excites me most about EuroChamps27 is the commitment to making it genuinely accessible and affordable. This event is about opening the doors to hockey, giving more people the chance to experience our sport live, and showcasing just how exciting and inclusive it is. I have incredible memories of the EuroHockey Championships in 2015, and I’m thrilled that, 12 years later, we can bring this fantastic event back to London to inspire the next generation of players, fans and volunteers.”

The event is supported by UK Sport, whose investment of National Lottery funding has been central to securing EuroChamps27 for England and enabling the delivery of a world-class international championship. The tournament is also supported by the Greater London Authority, whose partnership has helped bring the event to the capital and ensure London once again hosts a major European sporting moment.

Esther Britten, Deputy Director of Major Events at UK Sport, said “We are extremely excited to work with our event hosting partners again to bring EuroChamps27 to England. This will be the first major international hockey event hosted here since the World Cup in 2018, and it represents a fantastic opportunity to showcase the sport at the highest level, deliver a world-class major event for athletes and fans and have a positive impact in local communities.”

Kelly Fairweather, Chair of EuroChamps27, said EuroChamps27 will be a truly world-class event, showcasing the very best of European hockey and setting new standards for delivery, experience and inclusion. Hosting the championships in England is a huge opportunity for the sport – raising its profile, inspiring new audiences and creating a platform with a lasting impact at every level of the game.”

EuroHockey President Marcos Hofmann added: EuroChamps27 marks a major step forward for European hockey. Expanding to 12 teams and uniting the men’s, women’s and Hockey ID championships reflects the ambition and values of our sport.

“Coming back to London has a strong homecoming feel for a second time after Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre hosted in 2015 while the city is steeped in our sport’s history with many of the world’s first clubs forming around the city. Indeed, this year marks 150 years since hockey’s first rule book was formalised in the very same area of London where we will celebrate our finals at The Twickenham Stoop.”

Tickets go on sale in Spring 2026 to those who have registered for priority access. Fans are encouraged to register their interest now to receive priority access before tickets go on general sale summer 2026.
